[ Dear Hair, I Refuse To Style You ]

I just wanted to do a quick, quick post on my favorite hair products
(That I have tried, and I have tried A LOT).

First, some info about my hair type!
-Medium Length
-Thick
-Wavy
-Frizzy
-Not Coarse
-Dark

I am forunate enough to have very manageable hair (if it's taken care of right!)

I have tried several shampoos and conditioners (Tresemme, Dove, Garnier Fructis, Salon Brands etc. etc.) and my favorite has to be the Aveeno Shampoos and Conditioners.

I'm really loyal to the Aveeno brand because of how natural their products are. I currently use:

[ Aveeno Nourish + Moisturize Shampoo and Conditioner ]

What makes them different? This is the only set of hair products that has left my hair incredibly soft (even after it air dries) and smelling lovely. My spiff with a LOT of products is that they feel nice in the shower but the moisture doesn't stay after drying. I'll go into more details in later post.

My after shower regime: I DO NOT blow dry my hair, except in rushing emergencies of course. I believe very heavily in letting your hair style itself. Everyone's hair has a natural style. Mine is wavy. It has some problems, but if those problems are taken care it usually looks amazing.

1) On a typical day, after leaving the shower, I towel dry my hair and brush it to detangle. If the brush isn't going through smoothly, you need to change your shampoo/conditioner. They are there to prep your hair.

2) I spray Aveeno Nourish + Condition Leave-in Treatment and brush through to distribute evenly.

3) To let the natural waves create themselves, I braid it to the side and tie it.

4) I keep baby hairs controlled by geling them to the side or up.

After that, I basically just let my hair air dry. In a couple of hours, when I untie my hair, the waves are there already and I can just set them with some hair spray or leave them alone.

Try to figure out how to rock your natural hair; it'll probably be much easier than styling and stressing every day!

Cheers, Yasmeen

Your hair looks so pretty in the photo. I have tried many myself just 'cause I like to see how hey all work but I've never tried Aveeno.

I've tried all of those brands too, and none of them worked very well for my hair. I've been using pantene lately, which leaves my hair shiny and soft. I haven't tried aveeno, though. Maybe it would work better?

Whenever I don't feel like styling my hair I just let it air dry and put a little mouse in it to reinforce the curls.

Super jealous of your natural waves! I had a bit of wave back when I had long hair, but now I've even gone so far as to make salt spray to tease the texture out! But yeah, I've never understood how girls can take hours to style their hair! One of my proudest achievements (haha, in the beauty realm anyway) is convincing one of my friends to stop flat-ironing her gorgeous hair for good... it's awesome that your routine is so effortless :)

You have great hair. At least that's what I concur from the pictures. Question - Does the Aveeno shampoo smell nice?

@Jen: You should definitely try it. It's inexpensive too :] Bonus points!

@Daniela: I've never heard of Keune [Googling]

@Roni: I used to use Pantene too. I have a bottle laying around but I love to experiment so I just move around and try different things.

@Tessa: It's not as breezy as it sounds. My hair has it's weaknesses here and there. Humidity and chlorine are at the top! And I can't imagine never ironing my hair again; that's quite a feat! :O

@Tanvi: :D It's funny you ask. When my brother and I were making breakfast today he actually commented on how nice my hair smelled, so, I guess, yea!

Oh cool. I will give it a try then coz the only thing stopping me was the smell. And YES! You can use that juice as dye! :)

hrm... I tend to use garnier fructis products but you have any idea if aveeno's good for thick/pin-straight/long hair?

as for the shirt...yup! it was around $4-6... I've been thrifting a lot more lately since my bf discovered the Savers electronics section (and therefore wants to spend every.waking.moment in there) which I'm glad about since I don't have much money to spend on clothes & can't really afford f21 stuff right now!

hey yasmeen,

just wanted to answer your question on where I got my shorts... I got them from urban outfitters and I think they're by silence & noise?

hope that helps. urban outfitters is usually where I get most of my shorts...that or lulu's.
